Test Track 4: first stage of track structure electrical testing is complete

To ensure uninterrupted operation of machinery and to increase safety, regular electrical tests and measurements are required that meet relevant regulations, as well as requirements of operations rules. Such checks allow you to promptly identify existing problems and prevent incidents or emergencies. This testing includes various checks and measurements to ensure electrical infrastructure of the Test Track 4 structure meets all applicable standards and requirements.

The first stage of tests carried out at Test Track 4 was related to electric safety issues, with the purpose to also prove validity of the track structure design for its electrification in the future.

Process of measuring resistance of all grounding devices and resistance of grounding devices’ connections with grounded objects

Our professionals have:

• carried out measurements of resistance of all grounding devices and resistance of grounding devices’ connections with grounded objects;

• visually inspected all elements of traction and general power supplies;

• carried out measurements of electrical resistance of track structure insulation;

• checked electric strength of Test Track 4 insulation;

• checked parameters of track structure with electric current flow in the range of 10–400 A.

This work has required tight collaboration of not only the uSky Transport team, but also with professionals from third-party laboratory and its equipment. And, additionally, more than 4 units of complex technological equipment and measuring instruments were rented and effectively used.

The first stage of Test Track 4 track structure electrical testing
